Recently we were lucky enough to be introduced to Hannah Sharman-Cox, founder and MD of DrinkUp.London; the definitive list of the best bars and events in London and the online home of London Cocktail Week, London Wine Week and London Beer Week. We connected with a good friend of Hannah's via the #IAmAnEssexGirl campaign, and when we chatted about our plans (and passion for a good cocktail), she was really keen for us to meet Hannah - a born and bred Essex girl herself... and now we know why! Hannah is achieving awesome things in the drinks industry and smashing stereotypes in so many ways. Read on for a healthy dose of career (and cocktail!) inspiration.
On Wednesday 26th April, we hosted another Mother Hub Mingle at The Brentwood Kitchen, and this time we were talking about the mind-boggling world of NUTRITION!
Our mission was to bust the myths and uncover the cold hard FACTS, and boy did we manage to cover a lot of ground! We were joined by a brilliant panel of experts, including Jemma Sedgwick (Personal trainer, health food fanatic and author of the Truly Madly Healthy Cookbooks), Nicola Ragon-Paxton (Nutritional Therapist, founder of I Love Greens and Co-founder of Happy Tums), Johanna O'Reilly (NHS Dietitian, HCPC registered since 2008) and Emily Norris (YouTuber and busy mum of three).
It’s that time of year again, when the invites start rolling in and the same question arises, “what am I going to wear?” Whether it's a friend’s wedding, a day at the races or the annual work summer ball; these are all perfect excuses to buy a new frock. And with the weather finally spring-like, our brilliant fashion editor Jo Sawkins from She Who Shops, has rounded up the best dresses, shoes and bags for a complete head to toe look! All that's left for you to do is click "buy", book your blow dry and RSVP with a 'yes'!
There is always that special recipe that embodies a season. For me it can be a hearty beef stew in autumn, or maybe a berry dessert in summer. With Spring now most definitely here I though I'd share one of my very favourite Spring salads. It's so easy to make (perfect when catering for last minute guests) and it just seems to bring together all the best elements of the season; fresh, crisp, delicate flavours. It's absolutely delicious!
Nikki Cochrane, co-founder of Digital Mums; an innovative startup providing social media training for mums. Nikki and fellow Digital Mums co-founder, Kathryn Tyler, are passionate about proving that flexible working can produce amazing results. They are the driving force behind the #WorkThatWorks campaign, which calls on businesses everywhere to show their support for flexible working. We're big fans of their mission to help mothers create stimulating, flexible careers that fit around family life.

Whether you're after some wardrobe staples they can wear all season, new sandals or just a simple little refresh, we’ve got all you need for a stylish Spring update ready for when school’s out!
On Wednesday 8th March 2017 we celebrated International Women's Day by hosting our first Mother Hub Mingle event at The Brentwood Kitchen in Brentwood, Essex. The event was a chance for women to get together, make new connections and participate in a live panel discussion and Q&A around the topic of 'Making it Work'.
We welcomed four speakers - all of them women (who happen to be mothers) who are making their careers work for them. Our brilliant panel including Jess Clarke (Talent Development Specialist at Bloomberg LP), Hannah Wylie (Senior Lawyer at Universal Pictures), Amy Newland (Education Manager at Kip McGrath and Director at Vivid Theatre Productions) and Natalie Reynolds (founder of Fred & Noah).
Sunday is baking day in our house, and this beauty is the perfect Sunday bake. I got the recipe for this delicious cake from my sister's Italian mother in law, or Nonna as we have all affectionately come to call her, even my kiddos! Most people would break into a sweat when cooking for large numbers but she's the kind of woman who makes a three course meal for twenty seem like no bother at all, and always serves up the most incredible food at family gatherings. We never visite Italy without stopping by "The Nonni's house" and are always guaranteed to leave with a wonderful recipe or two. This apple cake is one of many gorgeous recipes that have been passed down through the women in her family for generations and once you've tasted it you'll know just why!
