Colombia... An Adventurer's Dream

Colombia... An Adventurer's Dream

There is a particular place in Colombia that has a very special place in my heart and that is Barichara. It was there, in the main square in the midst of ear-popping (mainly home made!!) fire works, live music and perhaps one too many aguardientes that my now husband proposed to me, on one knee on New Year's eve 2006. Walking along the paths of red and yellow earth leading up to it, as you catch a glimpse of the palm trees and cathedral dome, you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd somehow ended up in the movie set for Indiana Jones or Romancing the Stone! But this is no movie set, it's much much better; a town that has been here since the time of the Spanish conquistadors.

A Somerset Staycation

A Somerset Staycation

With the days getting shorter and the chilly weather setting in, I've been dreaming of making an escape to foreign climes... but sometimes all you really need is a break from routine, and our little Somerset staycation over bonfire weekend was just the ticket! My sister-in-law found a beautiful 16th century farmhouse in Wick, Somerset on Air BnB - what a find! Set just outside Langport, surrounded by rolling green hills and woodland, this stunning property is just bursting with character....

The Dolomites - An escape to Alta Badia in the summer time.

I've always had a special place in my heart for Italy.  My parents met in Florence back in the 70's, and moved back to Tuscany when my sister and I were teens. It's also where my husband and I got married and where my sister and her family call home.  We have visited Italy lots of times, but every time we go, we seem to discover a new gem of a place. This year was no exception!
