On air and in the news: BBC Essex and Hello! Online

On Wednesday 12th October, just 5 days after setting up a petition to reclaim "Essex girl" and remove it from the dictionary, we received a call from BBC Essex asking us to join a debate. Dave Monk dedicated a large portion of his show to the issue, with opinions coming in from various sources. It was great to get the message out!

Giovanna Fletcher felt compelled to take to her social media sites on Thursday to defend her Essex roots. The 31-year-old was appalled to learn that various English-speaking dictionaries have defined an "Essex Girl" as someone who is "unintelligent, promiscuous, and materialistic".
